Welcome to Dark Guitars
I am an independent luthier based in Tacoma, Washington. My mission is to provide top tier service to my local community. I have been a musician and worked on guitars for most of my life. I have worked in guitar departments of music stores such as Sam Ash and am a graduate of the Galloup School of Building and Repair in Big Rapids, MI. I also worked as an apprentice and employee of Galloup Guitars before returning home to Tacoma to start my own shop. I have most recently been working as an apprentice and colleague of prominent local luthier Jack Pimentel of JP Guitars in South Hill, WA.
I have extensive experience in building acoustic and electric guitars, as well as repairing them. I am well versed in all aspects of guitar electronics from install to troubleshooting/repair. I can do all fretwork from dressing (level, crown, polish) to complete removal and installation of new frets. I am also capable of handling structural repairs such as crack repairs, bridge reglue/replacement, brace repairs and neck resets.
Through my repair work, my goal is to deliver the highest quality service and experience for my clients. Through my clients, I hope to build a network of friends that will follow me on this journey as I share my designs and vision of creating the finest handcrafted local-made electric and acoustic guitars. Thank you!
